Clearly influenced by our work here at tin box, the American Airlines Arena is proclaiming its LEED certification from the rafters. Literally.

This is particularly impressive for a venue that shoots flames into the air during player introductions.



It's still no Lincoln Financial Field, the bellwether of sustainable American sports stadia. But this is a huge step forward for Miami, which lags many other cities in basic environmental awareness.

It is worth noting that the awesome new stadium for the Florida Marlins will contribute greatly to sustainability simply by relocating to Little Havana, where it will be accessible via public transportation, and by foot.
