Day job

A brief hiatus from blogging the house project while David tends to an awesome academic project: the fifth htc.Workshop, which kicks off with Ola Uduku's keynote lecture - West African Modern: Modern Movement Architecture in West Africa and the discourse of Tropical Regionalism - Thursday evening, 7pm, at The Wolfsonian-FIU.

Friday morning, the workshop portion of the event includes five papers and opens at 10am:

Mabel Wilson (Columbia University) and Peter Tolkin (Peter Tolkin Architecture), “Listening There: Scenes from Ghana”

Vandana Baweja (University of Florida), “Bombay and Mumbai in Slumdog Millionaire”

Robert Gonzalez (Florida International University), “Framing the Verdant Latin: Rethinking South America's Green Architecture”

Prita Meier (Wayne State University), “Architecture Out of Place: The Politics of Style in Zanzibar”

Robert Cowherd (Wentworth Institute of Technology), “Big Road Architecture: Unexpected Meanings of Jakarta's Urban Form”

Vladimir Kulic (Florida Atlantic University) will moderate the workshop session. Gonna be awesome.

We'll start up again Saturday, after we meet with our electrician, plumber and air conditioning subcontractors at the site.
